Are you inspired to build your own home?

I enjoy sharing our story about building a lifestyle (and home) in order to transition from city living to country living. I find that a lot of other people share a similar dream of either moving to the country or living a more self sufficient lifestyle. We don’t yet know what that will fully entail for us until we arrive at living that out. Right now we are working towards that goal and living full time in the big city and we each work full time. If you are like us, you want to create a simpler lifestyle. For some that might be downsizing their home, living off grid, growing a garden and raising farm animals to supplement their groceries and for some of us it’s incorporating as much of that as we can, including building your own home debt-free. It’s part of the voluntary simplicity movement. I don’t think everyone would have the same path to obtain those type of goals, how boring would that be? But most of us have to start somewhere and I thought I would share our story through this blog, one day at a time. If you are interested in a more simplistic lifestyle you have to start somewhere and why not start today? You need inspiration and ideas for what that might look like for you. One of our inspirations came from the tiny house movement. No, we didn’t choose to build a tiny home, I know that, but we incorporated some of their ideas into our design that we will unveil during the building process. In the meantime, here is a link to a website for someone building a debt-free tiny home for their family of three. tiny house<;!

What would a simpler lifestyle look like for you? When would you like to take that first step? Are you ready to start downsizing your life?
